The Bookdrop
A plea for library users to return books that have gone astray
Bookdrop bookdrop gleaming bright
In the day or in the night
With open maw to take back books
Found in shelves and piles and nooks.
Books have legs, they've gone to roam.
Please help our quest to bring them home.
Checked out books their fates we know,
But some of them just up and go.
Books on surgery or blood,
Parasites that grow in mud,
To replace them leaves us few-
er dollars spent on items new.
This October amnesty
Is offered by the library.
In October we won't care
How long you've had them, why or where.
No need for explanation long,
Bring them home where they belong.
If you think we’ll scream and fuss,
Returns can be anonymous.
Bring them home, we'll welcome them,
Welcome every paper gem.
Whisk them back upon the shelves
As if placed there by our elves.
See a book with barcode ours
Somewhere in the building's towers?
Books are our bookdrop's cup of tea
Outside room 2A-43.
Bookdrop bookdrop gleaming bright
In the day or in the night
With open maw to take back books
Found in shelves and piles and nooks.
